For example, I created two plugins (cross-linker and captcha-godfather) and both were incompatible since WP 2.5.1. After a few emails from these plugins' users I updated them and everything was fixed. But... when I installed some adsense plugin last time, one function's name was exactly the same like one function's name in my plugin. Thus, when I activated the new adsense plugin, my own plugin was activated too. It's too hard to follow all updates of WP and so on. It is worth it, but not always.
